Privacy Policy
Last updated October 22, 2026
This policy describes information collected through the KinMatters website while the service is in development.
Information collected
When you use one of the website's four interest forms, KinMatters records the information listed for that form, along with the form source and submission time:
- Early access: your name and email; optional phone number; the state or location of the estate; your role; answers about the estate documents, your main concern, international connections, and price interest; and anything you choose to write in the optional free-text response. The website also records the result shown by the next-steps tool, your selected intent path, the headline version shown, and any referral code.
- Free checklist: your email address and the next-steps path for which you requested a checklist, plus the selected intent path, headline version, and any referral code.
- Care planning: your email address; whether you are caring now or planning for yourself or a loved one; care topics you select; your answer to the $15/month price question; the selected intent path and headline version; and any referral code.
- “What brings you here?” intent choice: your choice between settling an estate and care/planning. This form does not ask for your name or email. The website also records the headline version and any referral code.
For all submissions, the app also saves the browser's user-agent string (a short description of the browser/device). To limit spam, the server keeps request IP addresses and submission times in an in-memory rate-limit table while it is running; only submissions from the prior ten minutes count toward the limit of eight. This table is not saved with lead records or persisted to the lead store. The hosting provider may separately keep server logs under its own practices.
The headline version may be saved in your browser's local storage so the site can keep showing the same version. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google to retrieve those fonts. Please avoid putting account numbers, Social Security numbers, or detailed medical information in the optional free-text field.
How information is used
- To respond to early-access or care-planning interest and provide relevant product updates.
- To fulfill checklist requests. The site currently records the request; checklist delivery may be handled separately and is not automated by this app.
- To understand which estate and care-planning topics people need, evaluate interest in the service, and improve the website and planned product.
- To understand referral sources and compare the two headline versions shown on the site.
- To help prevent spam and abuse.
KinMatters does not sell lead information. The website's early-access checkbox is not currently saved as a separate consent record, and this app does not implement email sending or an unsubscribe system. Those processes need to be confirmed before ongoing promotional emails are sent.
Storage and retention
Lead records are saved in the PostgreSQL database when one is configured, or otherwise in a local file on the server. The local-file option is intended for testing and may not persist across redeployments. The application has no automatic deletion schedule. Lead records remain in the configured lead store until the owner manually deletes them.
Hosting and database providers may process or store information to operate the website. Their own privacy and retention terms also apply to the services they provide.
How information is protected
The app rate-limits form submissions and restricts the lead CSV export to a configured admin key. These are limited safeguards, not a guarantee of security. Access to the database, backups, infrastructure logs, and any additional security protections depend on the hosting and database providers and their configuration. No website can guarantee perfect security.
Your choices and requests
You can choose not to submit a form, and the intent-choice form does not require an email address. To ask a question or request deletion of a lead record, contact us at info@septara.com.
Changes to this policy
KinMatters may update this policy as the website and its data practices change. The date above indicates when this policy was last updated.
